Free to Use Until August

The self-hosted server is free to use without storage limitations. Licenses become purchasable after the launch phase.

Every file can have a story

In Heaper, every file is a block with rich text notes. Add context to pictures. Attach deadlines, meeting notes, who sent it. Add journal entries to travel photos. Annotate PDFs with research notes. Track changes between versions, no more presentation_final_final.pptx.

Built on four timeless principles

Local-First

Works offline. Syncs when you're ready. Your data lives where you do.

Links Over Folders

Connect everything through meaningful links — not rigid hierarchies.

Merge-Based Sync

All changes merge automatically — even from offline devices. No conflicts.

Freedom to Self-Host

Run it on your own hardware. Control your world, end to end.

Links are the new folders

Heaper replaces folders with links. Tag links act as types or categories (browse them like folders). Mention links are references between ideas (bidirectional backlinks). You can browse by tag like a folder - but things can live in multiple places at once. It's how your mind actually works.

Build structure as you go

Don't plan categories upfront. Just add files and notes.

Link things when you see patterns. Check your "unlinked" view. Connect what matters.

Tags aren't categories you create — they're patterns you notice. Let structure emerge from use, not from planning.

"

Your mind doesn't file things away. It finds them through connections.

"

You don't rent your thoughts. You own them.

Most tools store your work on their servers and call it convenience. Heaper gives you back ownership. Every note, every file, every thought stays on your device - and syncs securely using modern merge-based technology. Self-host it if you like. Or use our encrypted cloud in Switzerland. Either way - your data is yours, not part of someone's business model.

Simplicity isn't minimalism. It's mastery.

Heaper doesn't hide behind AI tools that will maybe find your stuff. It is the tool you need to build your own system. It's fast, tactile, and honest. Every feature exists because it earned its place.

a tool that feels personal — and can adapt to your structure.

"Independent. Private. Built to last."

Made by one developer — for everyone who builds things that last

Heaper was created by Jan Lunge, an independent developer from Hamburg who's spent nearly two decades studying how people think, create, and organize.

Built without investors or algorithms, Heaper represents a simple idea:

Software can be personal again.
